OK, I realize Victor Hugo's quotes are intense...but look at "Les Miserables" written in 1872...
He obviously was a very compassionate, and intensely passionate man...
I also believe that those times were more so...and not as hastily in a rush like these days. In the 1800's you had to connect, intermingle and interact with people directly. There was nothing else. today between faxing, texting, emailing, blogging, IMing, surfing the web..etc...People have their computers, cell phones and other gadget's...Social grace is being diminished and the interaction between people is less. There is so much time in a day. It can get lonely if your work is remotely on the Internet and it currently depends on social media and networking. We just simply have to make time like any era in history to balance our lives...in the real world...
